Sounds like Crazy
Students were challenged with creating a production budget for either a feature film or television pilot. I chose to do an adaption of Shana Mahaffey’s novel Sounds like Crazy. The projected budget in this project is to cover all expenses needed for the pilot episode. This estimated budget for Sounds like Crazy was established using a substantial amount of industry and consumer research. This research paved the way for the show’s predicted financial costs.

In a nutshell:
The Ask: Create a production budget for a feature film or television pilot.
About the Show: A dramedy centered around a fragile waitress with Dissociative Identity Disorder who struggles and appreciates the five people living inside her head as she tries to regain control of her life.
The Opportunity: Depicting mental illness in television can greatly deconstruct the stigma surrounding it. Shows that are premiered week after week tend to make a substantial emotional impact on the audience, leaving an opportunity to relate and learn from the character.
